Digital Detox

Are you ready to have zero regrets about the way you use your phone and computer? Are you ready to Marie Kondo your digital world? If so, then it’s time for the most powerful tech intervention that exists, a Digital Detox!

What

The 30-day Digital Detox is a highly effective technique for resetting your relationship with technology. The challenge has you abstain from non-essential digital tech for one month. During that time you invest heavily in things that matter to you, friendships, family, community, exploration, learning, contemplation, service, education, professional development, meditation, sports, hobbies, etc! Then at the end of the thirty days you get the chance to rebuild your tech habits from the ground up, bringing back only the technology that truly serves your goals and values, that actually nourishes you and your life. This is not one size fits all, everybody picks their own goals for the Digital Detox that align with their own personal values and lifestyle.

Why

For anyone who struggles with any degree of tech addiction or compulsion, from the most mild to the most severe, you know that your life could be better, richer, fuller, more productive, more peaceful. This is about reclaiming this potential. This is about high quality connections, deep work, satisfying leisure, and peace of mind, it’s about YOU. And of course it’s also about the world. It’s about creating the culture we want to live in, by about empowering ourselves and others to live more beautiful lives.

How

A Digital Detox, while deeply rewarding, is rarely easy. That’s why we employ the power of community to create the oomph needed to tackle it. We start off with a live virtual event, then we launch, supported during the month by optional weekly live check-ins, optional weekly meditations, a digital forum, and various other accountability and support structures. Team work makes the dream work!

Live Kick Off (August 1st 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)
We will review our intentions and motivations for the process, develop connections with others in the group, address any questions, and outline the structures that are in-place to support you during the month. This is highly recommended, but not mandatory for participating in the challenge.

Optional Live Support Groups (weekly)
These will be a time to reconnect with the community, share your experiences, get inspired, ask questions and forge on!

Optional Live Meditation Sessions
(weekly)
Meditation is a powerful way to work with cravings and a beautiful tool to invest in. Join others to use the month to kick start or deepen your practice.

A Digital Forum for Building Community
(throughout)
The From Love Network will be made available for participants to connect with each other, and share tips, challenges, victories, questions, encouragement, inspiration and resources.

The Digital Detox is Donation Based.
LET ME RSVP ALREADY!

Who

Intrepid souls who are ready for an adventure. People committed to pushing back against the manipulation of big tech. People who are tired of wasting time and energy on things they know degrade them. People who understand that life is precious. People who are up to something. Is that you? I hope so! Maybe it’s your friends too. Fom Love is entirely driven by word of mouth, so please share the love. Invite friends and family who you think may be interested. The more the merrier!

The free Detox is led by Miles Bukiet, a therapist and meditation teacher, and the teams at Dharma Gates, and Log Off.

When

Kicks off on August 1st! 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm EST
It runs for the month.

The Team

The August Detox is a collaboration with a few wonderful organizations. From Love is thrilled to be partnering with Dharma Gates and Log Off as Cohosts and Sit-Heads as a Cosponsor.

Dharma Gates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that brings meditation training to young people (18 - 35). Dharma Gates introduces young people to the Dharma and presents pathways into deep practice.

Log Off is an organization dedicated to rethinking social media, for youth, by youth. Log Off creates programing and dialogue for teenagers and participates in policy development and advocacy.

From Love is a grassroots organization devoted to helping people achieve a high level of digital wellbeing through the creation of community and sharing of resources.

Sit-Heads is a (free) sitting and social group for people who love the craft of meditation. Sit-Heads is a non-sectarian community offering a variety of programing for people to sit, talk shop, and nerd out about meditation.

Just for fun… watch Log Off founder Emma Lembke tell it like it is to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
